About kaia
Kaia Preus is the author of The War Requiem (Essay Press, 2020), which won the Essay Press and University of Washington at Bothell MFA Book Award and was nominated for a Minnesota Book Award in 2021. She holds her MFA from the Jackson Center for Creative Writing at Hollins University and was awarded an Author Fellowship through the Martha's Vineyard Institute for Creative Writing. Her essays and fiction have been published in Literary Hub, Pleiades, The Drum, The Brevity Blog, The Briar Cliff Review, and The Coal Hill Review, among others. She has taught and coached writing at Augsburg University and St. Olaf College, and she currently teaches The Mother Writer course at The Loft Literary Center. She lives in Minneapolis with her husband and son and is at work on a novel.
